Continuous running CR:
This mode of operation is considered to occur when a steady-state thermal condition is
reached under a constant loading condition of a long enough duration
Short operation SO:
The motor does not run for a sufficiently long duration to arrive at a steady-state thermal
condition. The rest period after running is long enough to allow the motor temperature to
return to close to ambient temperature.
tL = 20 – 40s
tR = 30s minimum
tC = 60 – 90s
Very short operation VSO:
The motor runs for a very short duration under a high load without reaching a steady-state
thermal condition. The rest period after running must be sufficiently long to allow the
motor temperature to return to a substantially lower temperature, approaching the ambient temperature.
tL = 2 – 10s
tR = 60s minimum
tC = 60 – 70s
